In the city of Rio de Janeiro are several opportunities to see bromeliads. First of course there is the Jardim Botânico, with next to it Corcovado and the Parque Nacional da Tijuca. But also the Paõ de Açúcar with its cablecar where Alcantarea's are growing on the rocky slope, as well as on a hill at Copacabana beach that one can see from the sugarloaf. The species on that hill (the Morro de Leme, below) is Alcantarea glaziouana, having white petals.

The lovely town of Paratí is situated also at the atlantic coast, in the southwest of Rio de Janeiro state.
